Under the Labour Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, one of the parents or a guardian caring for a child under two years of age must be provided with additional breaks for feeding the child, in addition to the ordinary rest and meal break.
This right may be granted not only to the child’s mother but also to the child’s father or guardian, subject to the conditions established by law.
The breaks are provided only if the other parent is not on parental leave and is not using such breaks.
Breaks for feeding a child must be provided:
If there are two or more children under two years of age, each break must last at least one hour.
The timing of the breaks is determined with due regard to the employee’s working arrangements, the child’s needs and the organisation’s workflow. The employer may not reduce the minimum duration or frequency established by law.
Breaks for feeding a child:
The employer may not reduce the employee’s remuneration for the duration of such breaks or require the employee to work this time at a later date.
A break for feeding a child is provided separately from the ordinary rest and meal break and constitutes paid working time.

The precise duration of the breaks and the procedure for granting them are established by the collective agreement. If no collective agreement has been concluded, the procedure is determined by the employer in agreement with the trade union committee.
