Annual Leave for a Pregnant Woman

Under the Labour Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a pregnant woman or a woman who has given birth must, at her request, be granted annual leave:

  • before maternity leave;
  • after maternity leave.

A pregnant woman may not be recalled from annual leave.

An employee using parental leave may, at their request, take annual leave before or after parental leave.

Guarantee for the Child’s Father

At his request, a working man must be granted annual leave during his wife’s maternity leave:

  • during the first working year — irrespective of the period already worked;
  • during subsequent working years — irrespective of the leave schedule.

Leave at a Convenient Time

Annual leave at a convenient time is granted to:

  • a single father or single mother raising one or more children under fourteen years of age;
  • a single father or single mother raising a child with a disability under sixteen years of age;
  • wives of military personnel performing compulsory military service.

Additional Paid Leave

One parent of two or more children under twelve years of age or a child with a disability under sixteen years of age is entitled to at least four calendar days of additional paid leave every year.

The leave may:

  • be added to annual leave;
  • be used separately, either in full or in parts.

It may not be carried over to the next working year or replaced with monetary compensation.

Unpaid Leave

At the employee’s request, one such parent is entitled to unpaid leave of up to fourteen calendar days each year.

The current rule provides for leave of “up to 14 calendar days”, rather than “at least 14 days”.
